TANGERINES STEM CELL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES ANNUAL CHARITY EVENT:
CALENDAR SEARCH 2003
Los Angeles, CA -- September 27, 2002*** Tangerines Stem Cell Foundation in Fort Lauderdale, FL announced today that it will hold its first annual Calendar Search event on September 28th, 2002. The events proceeds will benefit multiple myleoma cancer victims who need financial assistance for vital stem cell transplant procedures, which are not covered by most insurance companies.
Multiple myleoma is a bone cancer that strikes hard and fast. It is speculated that Anne Landers recently passed from this disease on June 22, 2002. Treatment usually consists of chemotherapy, but must be followed by a stem cell transplant. If a patient is not treated with a stem cell transplant after chemotherapy, the cancer comes back very quickly. Many individuals are dying because insurance companies will not cover this treatment.
Calendar Search 2003s goal is to raise money for Tangerine Mannings stem cell transplant procedure so that her life may be spared. Tangerine Manning is a much loved, remarkable woman in the Fort Lauderdale community who was struck with multiple myleoma in December 2001. The foundation has been set up in Tangerines name and will continue to help other victims get the funds they need to receive the transplant.
The event kicks off at 9:00pm on September 28th, 2002 at the Firm Fitness Center located at 928 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL and features an exciting 2003 calendar model search contest, a silent auction and a performance by Gioia Bruno (formerly of Exposé) plus attendance by local celebrities. The night will cap off with a midnight after-party at Voodoo Lounge. Over 400 people are expected to attend.
