Shortage of Doctors and Other Clinicians is Addressed in 4-Part Healthcare Recruiting Audio Conference Series

The shortage of doctors in the U.S. is expected to reach 90,000 and the current nurse shortage is expected to top 800,000 nurses by 2020, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). In response, many hospitals and other critical care providers are looking beyond our borders to those dedicated clinical workers interested in coming to the U.S. to study and/or find employment in the American healthcare industry.

(PRWEB) September 13, 2005 -- The shortage of doctors in the U.S. is expected to reach 90,000 and the current nurse shortage is expected to top 800,000 nurses by 2020, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). In response, many hospitals and other critical care providers are looking beyond our borders to those dedicated clinical workers interested in coming to the U.S. to study and/or find employment in the American healthcare industry. In fact, the American Medical Association reports that currently more than 20 percent of all active physicians in the U.S. today are international medical graduates (IMGs).

However, as immigration attorney Carl Shusterman points out, getting even the most qualified clinical workers from there to here is no easy task. IMGs and immigrants seeking entry to the U.S. must navigate an often bewildering patchwork of basic qualifications, J waivers," sponsoring agencies, and various visa requirements, plus quota limitations. At present, for example, H-1B visas, the most common entry document for employer-sponsored work visas, are backlogged through October 2006.

Mr. Shusterman will help healthcare recruiters make sense of these requirements to recruit and retain qualified workers from abroad in a 90-minute Audio Conference entitled, Recruiting the Foreign-Born Healthcare Candidate" on Thursday, September 15th at 1:00pm, sponsored by Kennedy Information, Inc. Attorney Shusterman's Audio Conference is Part I of a 4-conference series produced by Kennedy Information for healthcare recruiters. The other 3 parts include Retaining New Healthcare Recruits" on Thursday, October 6th; Healthcare Recruiting Metrics: Measuring Program Effectiveness," Thursday, November 10th; and Behavioral Interviewing in the Healthcare Organization," Thursday, December 1st, 2005.
