3-Point Championship, LLC to Host First Ever High Stakes 3-Point Shooting Basketball Event

Company to offer a $500,000 grand prize and $1 million dollar purse in richest 3-point shooting basketball contest in the world.

Hershey, PA (PRWEB) October 5, 2006 -- 3-Point Championship, LLC announced today plans to run the first event of its kind – a high stakes 3-point shooting championship with $500,000 to the winner and a total purse of nearly $1,000,000. The event will take place at the Tarkanian Basketball Academy in Las Vegas, NV on February 17 & 18, 2007, the same weekend the NBA All-Star Game festivities will be held.

“This will be the premier, annual 3-point shooting event of its kind,” said 3-Point Championship Co-Founder Korey Gardner. “There are many great basketball players in the world who don’t have the opportunity to play professionally. We’re very excited to bring this skills competition to a national forum so these players can showcase their talent with a chance at winning NBA-type of money. The event has already attracted some big name talent with several NBA shooting instructors, coaches and former college players committing to competing. “The interest level and excitement for the event has been outstanding and we expect to sell out fairly quickly. The first day of the event will feature a qualifying round where each player will shoot a total of 50 shots. Seventy-five percent of the field will be seeded and advance to Day Two of the event. Head-to-head, single elimination bracket style format will then determine the eventual Champion. Each round consists of five racks, each with five basketballs, placed around the perimeter of the basket. The last ball in each rack will be a money ball worth two points per made basket. Shooters will have one minute to shoot as many of the 25 basketballs as possible and accumulate a score. The 3-point shots will be from the college 3-point distance, 19 feet, 9 inches.

The event is open to the first 256 paying participants who are not currently under an NBA contract. Media coverage will be provided by the Competitive Edge TV show as currently seen on ESPN and Fox Sports Net.
