Author Hailey Raises the Bar for Book Videos

Joseph Hailey's video trailer brings feature film quality to the hottest new marketing trend for books.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) October 18, 2006 -- Author Joseph Hailey has raised the standard for the new trend in book promotion called ‘book videos.’ While most other authors are scrambling just to create modest videos they can stream from websites, Hailey has produced a video with the look and feel of a trailer for a major motion picture.

Before creating his acclaimed post-modern thriller U.S. Archives, Vol. 1 - The Run For Crystal Palace Hailey enjoyed a successful career as a makeup artist in the movie industry. Thanks to his current position as head of makeup for the CBS hit series, “NCIS,” starring Mark Harmon, Hailey was able to use the film crew around him to write, direct and produce a one minute book video that commands the type of attention usually given only to trailers for big budget movies.

I borrowed everything I could from the cast and crew of NCIS. Everyone was incredibly generous with their time and talents, and it really shows in the end result.
Hailey’s book video is designed to look like an exciting slam-bam preview for an action film you would expect to see in movie theatres. In comparison to other book videos being produced, Hailey's video has production values that set it far apart from the rest of the field.

According to Hailey, the reason his video is so far ahead of the rest is because “I borrowed everything I could from the cast and crew of NCIS. Everyone was incredibly generous with their time and talents, and it really shows in the end result. ”

During the production of his book video for “U.S. Archives,” Hailey used only first-class talent from the soundtrack, to the voice over, to the actors who he borrowed from the production of NCIS.

”We wanted to create a video that had some value in its own right,” Hailey added, “something that would be more than just a blatant commercial. We wanted to make a ‘mini-movie’ that would communicate the excitement of the storyline, and the personality of the characters in the book.”

Judging from the initial response to his trailer, Hailey and his team have done just that -- and a bit more. The book video for “U.S. Archives” is sure to be a hit with Hailey’s prospective readers, and it may well also become the gold standard for book videos for some time to come.
