Palm Desert, CA (PRWEB) November 22, 2006 -- It's Just Lunch, the premiere dating service for busy professionals with over 100 locations worldwide, surveyed 2,350 singles and found that 52% of singles have skipped a holiday party because they didn't want to go alone. The dating experts at It's Just Lunch have put together the following Guide to Holidating to help you make it through to the New Year.
Gift Giving Tips
- Diamonds are a girl's best friend. According to the survey, 21% of women said it's never too early to receive diamonds. Ladies you may be lucky this year, 11% of men agree it's never too early to give diamonds.
Here's a tip though…27% of singles think Holiday proposals rank even with scoreboard proposals…don't do it.
- It's never too early to start thinking about gifts for your significant other. 45% of women begin shopping for their significant other 2 months before Christmas. 52% of men admit to waiting until a few weeks before Christmas to begin shopping for a gift.
And if the gift is a bust, not to worry, most singles will be nice about it. 59% said if they received a gift from their significant other they didn't like, they would pretend they loved the gift anyway, so no hard feelings. And you'll never find the gift stuffed in the back of a closet, since 45% of singles admit to regifting.
- How much should you spend on gifts this year? 54% of singles expect to spend $500 -- $1,000 on gifts this holiday season.
- Avoid an awkward situation by being prepared. 59% of singles say their biggest worry when it comes to gift giving is receiving a gift from someone, but not having a gift to give them in return. Avoid an awkward situation by keeping a bottle of wine on hand at all times during the holidays. This is a win-win situation; you'll always have a backup gift and if you don't give it away you'll have something to bring to your next holiday party or to enjoy at home.
Holiday Party Tips
- Your boss wants to set you up with their son or daughter, how should you respond? 21% of singles would avoid an awkward situation by telling their boss they are seeing someone, even though that may be far from the truth. Another 26% would say yes, hopefully they are just like their mom/dad.
- Should you give your boss a gift?
66% of singles surveyed said they are not buying their boss a gift. Those that are buying their boss a gift think a bottle of wine is the most appropriate, followed by a restaurant gift certificate.
- How can you guarantee you'll have a date for New Year's Eve? 67% of singles said that if they had to choose, they would rather have a date for New Year's Eve than for a holiday party. Going to every party you're invited to means you'll be meeting more singles, greatly increasing your chances that you'll meet someone great to spend New Year's Eve with.
66% of singles expect to be invited to 4 holiday parties this year, but only 57% will go to all of them. Don't miss your opportunity to meet the right person. Take advantage of all every opportunity to meet someone new this holiday season.
