Retired Teacher Proves That Where There is a Will There is a Way
Faced with memory and health deterioration, this teacher refused to accept the inevitable consequences of losing her independence and ending up in a nursing home. Little by little she has been rebuilding her health, her memory, and her financial situation.
Oshawa, Ontario (PRWEB) December 26, 2006 -- In 1997, Marcelle Snyder had to take an early teaching retirement because her body was slowly closing down, and she was at the point where she could not count on her memory anymore.
"It was frightening," quotes Marcelle. "I would read and reread new material and try to remember what I had just read, but the memory was just not there. It was like reading Greek words. Material I had taught for years was slowly fading away; I had difficulty retrieving the information, let alone my words. I had to keep referencing to previous work done. My biggest fear was having to live in a nursing home and lose my independence."
Not able to make ends meet on her prorated pension, Marcelle had to do some supply work; this she could cope with for the time being because the work involved less stress and thankfully her colleagues provided help and understanding. However, Marcelle kept looking for an answer to this memory problem by turning to health supplements and health products found online. After about three years of trying different products, she finally found something that really helped, and gradually her memory and health started to come back.
Although supply teaching was good in the summer time when teachers were taking their holidays, there was not enough of it during the other 10 months, so Marcelle, who had always been quite interested in home decorating and gardening, decided to try something totally different: building websites and selling online. Hopefully this would solve her financial dilemma.
Having no web experience and very little html knowledge, Marcelle, with the help of different coaches, slowly worked through the building of different websites, Now her second website http://www.gardening-landscapingoptions.com is up and running. It offers gardening advice via her gardening articles as well as a wide selection of flowers, trees, plants and gardening equipment at fabulously low prices.
Although Marcelle is proud of her website accomplishments, she is prouder of the fact that her memory is slowly but surely coming back to normal. As she says," Failing memory does not need to be accepted. Like any other part of the body, the brain must be nourished at the cellular level. So keep looking -- keep searching until you find something that works. I did!"
