Island Company's Webcam Trumps Thousands of Others in Contest for the Best

Santa Catalina Island Company Selected Winner of Earthcam's Top 25 Cams Of 2006

AVALON, Calif. (PRWEB) December 28, 2006 -- Santa Catalina Island Company's webcam has been selected as one of EarthCam's "Top 25 Cams" of 2006, eclipsing thousands of nominees judged by a panel of VIP's and producers at EarthCam, the largest webcam portal on the Internet. Among criteria for the award are creativity in concept, technology, visual quality, and design.

Visitors to http://www.earthcam.com/top25/2006/ can see high-resolution webcam images from the Pavilion Lodge and the Catalina Casino in Avalon on Santa Catalina Island that offer breathtaking views of the harbor, Catalina's iconic Casino Building, and adjacent Crescent Avenue. The website offers unique interactivity, allowing visitors to choose one of nine preset views from two cameras. The press release announcing winners can be viewed at http://www.earthcam.com/press/press_details.php?id=302.

According to Brad Wilson, chief marketing officer for the Island Company, its "Ambient Cam" webcams were designed by the Fuzegroup and include their proprietary software that allows the user to zoom into pre-set areas on the high resolution picture.

"No other webcams have this feature, and we have two webcams now, the one that was selected, the Pavilion Lodge Cam; and one on the Casino roof that looks back into town. Our cams can be viewed on the Santa Catalina Island Company's website at http://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/avalon/webcam.php. We will also be installing an Ambient Webcam in Two Harbors this winter," Wilson adds.
