Pumped Up Gas Prices Highlight Advantage of Going to School Online

Saving on Gas and Transportation Top the Chart of Benefits Among Americans Surveyed: Seven out of ten Americans indicate a benefit for pursuing an online education versus a traditional, on-campus setting is the savings on gas and transportation, according to new research being released by eLearners.com, the leading resource that specializes in matching people with online education that fits their career goals.

Hoboken, NJ (PRWEB) September 18, 2007 -- Americans are feeling the pain at the pump with the average price for regular unleaded gas now topping $2.78 in the United States. The high price to fill up is putting a squeeze on wallets and causing people to reconsider their drive times. The sticker shock at the pump also highlights a benefit of online education - transportation savings.

Seven out of ten Americans indicate a benefit for pursuing an online education versus a traditional, on-campus setting is the savings on gas and transportation, according to new research being released by eLearners.com, the leading resource that specializes in matching people with online education that fits their career goals.

Back to school season is just around the corner and as gas prices continue to soar, adults are taking note of a unique benefit of going online--fuel efficiency
"Back to school season is just around the corner and as gas prices continue to soar, adults are taking note of a unique benefit of going online--fuel efficiency," said Andrew Gansler, CEO of eLearners.com, a division of Halyard Education Partners. "It seems as though Americans are more interested in investing in their minds and not in their tanks. Online education is green education."

Saving dough on gas is just one of the many reasons Americans would consider going to school online. The top benefit remains convenience--"easier to work into schedule"--with nearly eight out of ten respondents citing online education as "easier to work into schedule".

These benefits may be the driving forces behind American's overall interest in online education. eLearners.com research also found that six out of ten Americans say that if they had to go back to school at some point, they'd be interested in doing it online. What's more interesting is that the younger generation is more compelled to go online with 80% of young adults ages 18 - 24 indicating they would be interested in the online route if they wanted to take more courses or get a degree in the future.
