Englewood, NJ (PRWEB) November 13, 2013 -- Gallery 270, New Jersey's only exclusive fine art photography gallery, announces the Grand Opening celebration at our new home at 10 North Dean Street in Englewood, New Jersey. We proudly present a landmark exhibit which features the work of New Jersey native and Bergen based artist Michael Massaia with selections from three extensive bodies of work all "Made in New Jersey". The public is invited to meet with the artist on Friday, November 22 between 7 pm -9 pm. RSVP's taken at Eventbrite: http://gallery270nov22.eventbrite.com. Refreshments will be served. A portion of proceeds from sales during the show is being donated to Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund.
The "Afterlife" portfolio, begun in 2009 and completed in 2012 post storm, is most powerfully connected to Gallery 270's grand opening fundraising initiative for Sandy relief in New Jersey. It pictures the grand spectacle of the rides and attractions of the Jersey shore, especially the Casino and Funtown amusement piers of Seaside Heights, most of which only exist now in memories and pictures. These were seen and adored by millions, but never before "seen" as heroically depicted by Mr Massaia. The two final astounding images taken post Sandy evocatively complete the "Afterlife" portfolio. They are proof positive that the best artists can transform sobering realities to make compelling art with an a immediate and visceral impact.
We are pleased to show this work in a manner never before presented that traces the common thread which uniting the entire body of this provocative artists oeuvre. While one can enjoy this work electronically, seeing these luminous, unprecedented split toned silver gelatin and platinum / palladium prints all made by the artist himself is nothing short of mesmerizing.
