InternationalStudent.com Travel Video Contest Winners Announced
Neptune Beach, FL (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- InternationalStudent.com is delighted to announce the winners of its 2013 Travel Video Contest. The Grand Prize of $4,000 goes to Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, a student at Vanderbilt University, for his video “Postcard.” In his video, Khairul shares his experience as a Malaysian student studying in the US and his plan for two final trips before he graduates. The project, entitled Postcard, allows Khairul to connect with children back home by taking photographs of his journeys and sending them as postcards to children in Malaysia to inspire them to study abroad and follow his footprints.
“We are proud of Khairul and “Postcard,” and delighted to have him as this year’s winner. This is what it’s all about –experiencing a new country and culture, and then sharing it with the people back home. We look forward to following Khairul as he implements his project and connects with children in Malaysia,” commented Keith Clausen, President of InternationalStudent.com. As this year’s winner, Khairul will get his own blog on InternationalStudent.com where he will chronicle his trips and his Postcard project. Not just the judges liked “Postcard” – it was also extremely popular with viewers, as Khairul took home the $1,000 “Viewer’s Choice Award” for the most viewer votes.
In second place, winning $500, was Nicolas Bori who created the charming and funny video “Online Inspiration.” His video details his experiences as an Argentine traveling and studying in the Netherlands, and his preparation for his next overseas adventure to over 20 countries. As an expert on international travels on a tight budget, Nicolas wants to share budget tips and tricks to help students find a way to travel and study overseas.
“The Story of Me” by Jelani Paul took the third place prize of $250 for his sad but ultimately triumphant story. Jelani’s father’s death inspired him to never give up, make his father proud and achieve his goal of attending the University of Southern California’s Cinematic Arts program. His artful display of his passion and determination will certainly send him on his a way to a successful future.
To enter the contest, now in its eighth year, students from around the world had to submit a video no longer than five minutes long proposing a study abroad trip they wanted to take, or if they were currently studying overseas, any trip at all. With over 100 amazing entries from all around the world, the first difficult task was to choose 15 Finalists. The video quality was excellent, with many compelling stories from adventure to volunteer work, educational dreams to inspiring others to study abroad. Finally, the panel of judges chose the three winners from among the Finalists.
“Each year our Travel Video Contest coincides with International Education Week, which brings worldwide attention to the importance of overseas study. The videos in this contest bring this message home in a very personal and approachable way – through individual stories. We congratulate all of our contestants, and wish them luck as they pursue their international education,” added Keith Clausen.
