New Yasmin Lawsuit on Alleged Stroke: Now, AttorneyOne Can Provide Advice

A new lawsuit was filed on November 25, by a Texas resident in New Jersey District Court (2:2013cv07141) alleging that she suffered a troke from Yasmin and Yaz. Yasmin, which was approved by the FDA in 2001, and its sister drug Yaz, which was approved in 2006, are oral contraceptives that combine estrogen and a fourth generation progestin, drospirenone, to prevent pregnancy. Yasmin and Yaz are manufactured by Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals. In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that she was prescribed Yasmin and Yaz and, in 2011, she suffered a stroke.
Another lawsuit was filed on October 16, by a woman in Illinois Southern District Court (case no. 3:2013cv10850) alleging that she suffered pulmonary embolism from Yasmin. In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that she started taking Yasmin in 2008 and a few months later she suffered pulmonary embolism.
Court data indicate that on December 16, there were 9,826 actions pending in the Yasmin/Yaz Multidistrict Litigation (MDL 2100, US District Court, Southern District of Illinois).
