Harlem Globetrotters Jam on BuyAnySeat.com
Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- They take the court to their signature song “Sweet Georgia Brown” by Brother Bone. They’re slamming, jamming and spinning basketballs on their fingertips. And, as usual, the audience erupts in applause to the raucous fun and riotous razzle dazzle.
After some 90 years, the Harlem Globetrotters can still hoop it up, much to the joy and delight of fans of all ages. The team first hit the hardwood in 1927, and has played more than 20,000 exhibition games in 120 countries to an estimated 120 million fans.
This year’s Fans Rule tour opens at the I Wireless Center in Moline, Illinois on January 4, and is set for 48 games in 42 cities across North America. Next stops include the Stanford Center in Bemidji, Minnesota on January 8; SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois on the 9th, and UTC McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee on the 15th.
From there, the team heads for the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on the 20th, Arkansas State University Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas on the 21st, Jack Breslin Arena in East Lansing, Michigan on the 24th and Instrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas on the January 26, 2014.
“Online traffic for the Harlem Globetrotters has been trending extremely high,” said Marta Ault at online ticket marketplace BuyAnySeat.com. “Many of the venues are beginning to fill up as fans book ahead for next year.”
“Audiences are frequently comprised of family members of all ages and we’re proud to be able to offer all fans a complete and continuously refreshed selection of Harlem Globetrotters tickets available online, with a worry-free guarantee to protect their purchase,” added Ault.
“To access the full roster Harlem Globetrotters tickets we have available, fans can go to BuyAnySeat.com and search for Harlem Globetrotters – then select their tickets.”
The tour travels to Utica, New York; Prescott Valley, Arizona; Lowell, Mass.; Brooklyn, Uniondale, and New York, New York; Newark, New Jersey and East Rutherford, New Jersey; Ontario, California; Spokane, Wash.; Springfield, Mass.; Eugene, Oregon; Bridgeport, Conn.; Amarillo, Texas; Yakima, Wash.; Worcester, Mass.; North Little Rock, Arkansas; Salisbury, Maryland; Youngstown, Ohio and Missoula, Montana in February.
Similar to last year’s `You Write the Rules’ tour, local fans can vote on a new rule that the team will add to their upcoming game to make it even more fun and exciting. Fans can go online and vote for which rule they think is the best.
These rules could involve anything from playing with two basketballs at once to 4-point shots. The rule with the most pre-game votes is then used in the actual game.
The Globetrotters originated on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois in the 1920’s where all of the original players grew up. Over the years, the team has evolved into an exhibition basketball franchise known for its players’ amazing ball-handling tricks and athletic moves – and flair for court-side comedy and theatre.
At one point, the Globetrotters were one of the best teams in the country. However, with the rise of the National Basketball Association in the 1950's the Globetrotters found different avenues to success.
Recently the team introduced the 4-point shot from a 35-foot arc and a penalty box for any `funny business’ by a player. Plus, all of the penalties in a game are typically assessed against one of the Globetrotters due to their playful antics.
Former Globetrotters include Wilt “The Stilt” Chamberlain, Connie “The Hawk” Hawkins, Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, Marques Haynes, Meadowlark Lemon, Jerome James, Reece “Goose” Tatum and Hubert “Geese" Ausbie. (Source: wikipedia.org)
