OnlineFlowers.com is Tough Enough to Wear Pink
Salinas, CA (PRWEB) July 02, 2013 -- OnlineFlowers.com is teaming up with the California Rodeo Salinas to raise funds for Tough Enough to Wear Pink, a breast cancer fundraising organization with roots in western and rodeo culture. The online flower retailer is offering a special collection of beautiful flower bouquets, and 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of those arrangements will be donated to Tough Enough to Wear Pink. The delightful arrangements can be delivered to any location in the continental United States, and a portion of the proceeds benefits an outstanding campaign to fight breast cancer.
About Tough Enough to Wear Pink
Tough Enough to Wear Pink was created in 2004 by Karl Stressman of Wrangler and Terry Wheatley, a breast cancer survivor. The organizers sought to rally the western and rodeo communities to team up in the fight against breast cancer. Wheatley called on cowboys to don pink shirts during a rodeo event, and Wrangler's Karl Stressman arranged a rush order of pink cowboy shirts. Competitors and spectators alike filled the arena with pink shirts, and the media coverage guaranteed that Wheatley was making a statement for breast cancer awareness.
The Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign has raised more than $12 million since 2004. The Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night has raised millions of dollars for research and outreach with the help of dedicated partners like California Rodeo Salinas and OnlineFlowers.com. While professional rodeo was the original focus of fundraising efforts, other sports have joined the fight against breast cancer by sponsoring Tough Enough to Wear Pink events. Additional fundraising efforts have been organized by Wrangler, the main sponsor of Tough Enough to Wear Pink. Many of the fundraising efforts gather donations for local chapters of breast cancer community organizations.
About the California Rodeo Salinas
In 2005, California Rodeo Salinas joined forces with Tough Enough to Wear Pink. Even though pink is not usually associated with rodeo culture, the program has successfully raised awareness and money for breast cancer research. California Rodeo Salinas Association has raised $45,000 for breast cancer research since 2005.
