More Smiles & More Art Thanks to the Support of the Omidi Brothers
Beverly Hills, California (PRWEB) July 15, 2013 -- Civic Duty, a nonprofit that recognizes individuals and organizations that build and strengthen communities, received the appreciation of the founder of Smiles through Art for its sponsorship.
Smiles through Art gives chronically ill men, women and children the opportunity for self-expression and healing and then displays the artwork within healthcare facilities and hospitals.
“Smiles through Art supports children, adults, patients and survivors of cancer and other serious medical conditions,” says Sharon Persovski, founder of Smiles through Art. “We are very grateful to the Omidi brothers and Civic Duty for helping us with our mission to bring art programs that help patients channel their emotions in positive ways and promote healing.”
By founding Smiles through Art (http://www.smilesthroughart.blogspot.com), Persovski seeks to use her training and expertise as a graphic and environmental designer to strengthen communities and build an appreciation of the arts. Persovski, who has multitudes of experience in the design of large scale international projects – from shopping malls in Japan, Singapore and Mexico to luxury spas and hotels in Las Vegas and China, has decided to put her many years as an accomplished environmental designer to work -- helping those in great need. The charity’s strategy is two-fold: giving those with serious medical conditions a voice through their creativity and art and secondly, to elevate the environmental design of hospitals and medical facilities to alleviate stress and promote healing.
Smiles through Art works has worked closely with the American Cancer Society and is a sponsor and active participant in of their annual Beverly Hills Relay for Life. The charity also recently partnered with the group Operation Doctors for Afghanistan and internal music artist Prince Ali World Peace an international group of doctors and Afghan dignitaries to design an art project to be for Afghan hospitals. Decades of war have ravaged hospitals and care centers throughout Afghanistan and the need to rebuild facilities is great. Currently, Persovski is in Mexico, developing the program for rollout into major Mexico City hospitals, who have expressed tremendous enthusiasm for such a program.
