CM First Group Highlighted the Problem of Technical Debt at SHARE 2013
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- At a first appearance at SHARE, CM First was invited to present a session in the SHARE Live format, a vehicle for people who can’t attend SHARE to enjoy some of the content from office cubicles. Presenting to a large, in-person audience as well as many attendees scattered around the globe, John Rhodes, CM First CTO, delivered “Paying Down Your Technical Debt”. See a brief video summary of technical debt here.
“Technical debt is a problem for every company,” Rhodes noted. “As applications get modified by a variety of people, documentation doesn’t keep up and skill levels vary, the code a company relies on becomes’ brittle.’ It becomes less efficient, more difficult to modify and modernize and limits a company’s flexibility.”
The technical debt message matters more today, when companies are trying to move to mobile and the cloud, but find that enterprise code can’t adapt. Rhodes and other company representatives talked further with SHARE attendees in the exhibit hall, offering product information and a white paper on technical debt, to deepen understanding of the problem.
Mark O’Brien, CM First consultant, noted, “Customers were interested in this subject. Technicians struggle to reduce application cost while improving performance. At the same time, the business demands that the applications work on mobile devices. Unless technical debt is addressed, the competitive edge can be lost.”
The SHARE Live format is relatively new. SHARE organizers select only the best and most relevant presentations to be offered via the Net. As a first-time attendee, CM First Group enjoyed the vibrant energy of the large crowd and partook of sessions themselves. Vendors benefit from having the chance to learn about customer’s concerns and issues.
“CM First was happy to participate in this important conference,” said Christoph Heinrich, CEO. “The mission of CM First is to help companies modernize their applications. Through communities such as SHARE, technicians have the opportunity to see what CM First can offer.”
“CM First looks forward to seeing customers at SHARE in Anaheim, March 9-14, 2014,” Rhodes said.
