PHS Pledges to Boost Funds for Children’s Charity
Cardiff (PRWEB UK) 10 September 2013 -- The PHS Foundation has announced its first charitable partnership with Together for Short Lives, the leading charity for the UK’s 49 children’s hospice services. The choice reflects the PHS Group’s desire to bring its employees closer to their own communities while making a tangible difference to those in most need.
Furthermore, as part of the celebrations for the PHS Group’s 50th Birthday on the 14th August, the Foundation declared its pledge to raise a minimum of £50,000 this coming year, making a substantial difference to the children’s hospice services supported by Together for Short Lives.
Most of us can’t imagine what it must be like to have a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition but for 49,000 families throughout the UK, this is a reality. Some 49 children’s hospices and other voluntary groups help these families enjoy precious time together. Children’s hospices overwhelmingly rely on donations to enable them to offer practical and emotional support to children and families from the moment of diagnosis, for as long as it is needed.
Commenting on the new corporate link, Director of Fundraising for Together for Short Lives, Stephen Ballantyne, said, “We are delighted to have been chosen by PHS Group as their first Charity of the Year. Children’s hospices are unique, special places providing crucial support to their communities and a partnership with PHS Group will help them to sustain their vital services. We look forward to a fun, exciting and successful partnership together.”
Thanks to the partnership with Together for Short Lives, all PHS employees will become more aware of children’s hospices and palliative care services in their own locality. Fundraising activities will not only provide financial help for these valuable services but will also raise their profile in the community and among the PHS Group’s thousands of customers and suppliers.
“We have a proud history of supporting a number of local children’s hospices,” explains Gareth Rhys Williams, Chief Executive of the PHS Group, “so when it came to choosing our first nationwide charity partner we thought it only right that we honour this legacy. For us, our partnership with Together for Short Lives isn’t just about raising money for what is undoubtedly a great cause, it’s about providing an outlet for our staff to actively contribute and work together on projects that deliver genuine impact at a very local level.”
