Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 13, 2014 -- North American Spine is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Jeffrey Wingate to its back pain treatment team.
Dr. Wingate is an Orthopedic Surgeon based in the Detroit, Michigan area. Dr. Wingate will be performing cervical, thoracic, and lumbar surgeries using the exclusive AccuraScope procedure.
The AccuraScope is an advanced, minimally invasive procedure used to both diagnose and treat inter-vertebral lumbar discs, spinal stenosis and many other causes of chronic back pain.
Using a live x-ray for guidance and a tiny incision, Dr. Wingate inserts an endoscopic fiber-optic scope, like a small tube, through a small incision in the skin and into a natural opening at the base of the spine.
Dr. Wingate then examines the inside of the spinal canal and the discs of the lower back, from both sides of the spinal canal, to identify any tears, ruptures, herniations, bulges, scar tissues or other abnormalities. He then identifies inflammation and diagnoses the pain source in real time.
He then uses a number of instruments, including a laser, to shrink the damaged disc(s) or scar tissue, or treat the spinal stenosis, and relieve pressure on the spinal nerve(s). This mild spine procedure is usually completed in 30 to 40 minutes. Many patients experience immediate relief.
Dr. Wingate comes to North American Spine with an extensive background in treating back pain. He completed his education at Emory University in 1984, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Wingate earned his medical doctor degree and completed orthopedic residency at the Medical University of South Carolina from 1990 to 1996. Dr. Wingate then went on to serve in a fellowship program in Spinal Surgery at Carolina Spine Institute.
Dr. Wingate is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been designated the chief of surgery and chief of spine surgery at multiple hospitals during his career and has played an active role in lecturing across the medical community.
With more than 10 publications and numerous research projects, Dr. Wingate is considered an authority in orthopedics and a leader in the medical community.
Dr. Wingate’s AccuraScope patients will be treated at Southeast Michigan Surgical Hospital, commonly referred to as Michigan Surgical Hospital. His primary office is in Birmingham, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit. North American Spine patients will also be seen for pre-ops and post-ops at Michigan Surgical Hospital.
