SacValley MedShare Selects ICA As Health Information Exchange Vendor
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- SacValley MedShare, a health information organization serving the Sacramento River Valley of northern California announced it has selected ICA, a healthcare information technology company and leader in strategic interoperability innovating the way care teams connect and healthcare is delivered, as its HIE vendor.
“With ICA’s focus on delivering interoperability strategies that are unique to each client’s needs, their approach to learning and then understanding what SacValley Medshare needs to achieve its clinical interoperability goals was key to forming our relationship,” Jim Hauenstein, Interim Executive Director, SacValley, said. “We’re looking forward to working with the ICA team as they help implement the technology backbone to support the sharing of information across five counties – areas which are largely underserved rural communities where the need for better quality care through information exchange is great.”
With the technical solution from ICA in place, SacValley will be able to securely and efficiently exchange health information across its stakeholders: physician practices, hospitals, Indian Tribal Health, public health, behavioral health, clinics, radiology and lab. ICA’s Direct messaging solution, CareAlign® Connect, is the first phase which will then be enhanced with additional capabilities like query-response. SacValley Medshare has implemented direct messaging between participating stakeholders through a secure, HIPAA compliant electronic communication channel. “ICA is pleased to have the opportunity to serve this community. Direct messaging is a meaningful first step in a provider organization’s care coordination efforts,” said Gary Zegiestwosky, Chief Executive Officer of ICA. “It typically serves as the foundation for more robust clinical care team coordination efforts like alerts and notifications which work together to seamlessly allow hospitals, doctors and other associated care providers to see a patient’s medical history and improve coordination of care efforts.”
“When we started the vendor review process, we knew we wanted more than technology,” Hauenstein, added. “We wanted a collaborative partner who understands our unique needs as a largely rural community. ICA was the right fit, and we are looking forward to building a long-term, sustainable strategy that continues to meet the clinical care coordination needs of our healthcare professionals and patient population.”
