Phoebe Putney Health System Picks MEDITECH 6.1 EHR
Westwood, Mass. (PRWEB) April 14, 2014 -- Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, a 691-bed teaching hospital in Albany, Ga., has chosen to implement MEDITECH’s 6.1 electronic health record (EHR) after careful consideration of several EHR vendors.
In addition, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Phoebe Worth Medical Center, and Southwest Regional Medical Center will be upgrading from MEDITECH’s Client/Server platform to 6.1. All facilities are part of the larger Phoebe Putney Health System--a network comprised of hospitals, family medicine clinics, rehab facilities, auxiliary services, and medical education training facilities.
“We chose MEDITECH because of its high level of system integration and its lower cost of ownership compared to other market leaders,” said Jesse Diaz, vice president of information systems and clinical informatics. “We knew their applications were the right fit for our health system. We will be partnering with MEDITECH to standardize our processes, reduce costs, and improve patient care delivery.”
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital will begin implementing 6.1 in April 2014, following MEDITECH’s READY plan. The implementation plan, led by MEDITECH’s physician team, features a focused, multi-layered approach to physician adoption and satisfaction.
“We are going from multiple EHRs to one standard MEDITECH install across all of our hospitals,” Diaz said. “The resulting integration, standardization, and the elimination of a large number of interfaces will improve the continuity of care between our hospitals and reduce the amount of effort and cost that it takes to maintain and upgrade our systems. One patient, one chart is what we are striving for, and MEDITECH will help us achieve that goal.”
“The goals of the Phoebe Putney Health System and MEDITECH are well-aligned,” said Howard Messing, MEDITECH President and CEO. “Two of their strategic priorities are quality improvements and cost reductions. MEDITECH’s EHR will help them achieve both through its clinical integration.”
MEDITECH has been the leader in the EHR industry since 1969. MEDITECH's applications unify clinical, administrative, and financial information across healthcare organizations--including acute care, long-term care, home health care, and physician practices. Today, more than 2,300 institutions worldwide use MEDITECH's information systems. For additional information, visit http://www.meditech.com.
