Montana Governor Bullock Visits One of the State's Top 10 Employers, Avitus Group, to Discuss His Main Street Montana Project, a Business Plan for Montana, by Montanans
Billings, MT (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Avitus Group works with nearly 350 Montana businesses, setting the company up as an expert resource for Governor Bullock's mission to build an economic plan for the state, by the state's residents and businesses.
A key issue that surfaced repeatedly throughout the meeting between the Governor and Avitus Group was recruiting difficulties that Montana businesses face. Governor Bullock pointed out that the state's roughly one million population base coupled with an extremely low unemployment rate is making recruiting difficult for some companies in the state. "Here in Yellowstone County, our unemployment rate is 3.7%. Avitus Group has difficulties finding the number of qualified bookkeepers we need." -Steve Bentley, Avitus Group Senior VP of Finance.
"Workforce development is certainly something we've discussed as a potential solution to this problem. Not only do we have trouble finding enough qualified bookkeepers, we may be facing the same issue with payroll specialists in the future." -Dianne Parker, Avitus Group Public Relations Manager. The Governor has met with many of the state's top business leaders for feedback. He's also received similar feedback from one of the nations top CEO's. During a conversation at Former Senator Baucus's Economic Summit in Butte last year, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk told Bullock jokingly that if he were Montana's Governor, his top priority would be to ask residents to have more babies.
Avitus Group has addressed their client's recruiting needs by opening up a recruiting division. The company has been able to successfully recruit for large Montana companies like Montana Peterbilt. "When MT Peterbilt opened their new 54,000 square foot facility last May, they had the largest, newest, Peterbilt truck service and dealership in the nation. Avitus Group helped with their staffing of full time, career positions including Body Shop techs, Diesel Mechanics, General Labor and Skilled Painters. We created a state wide and national campaign to attract skilled candidates to these positions advertising all the great recreational opportunities that Montana has to offer, as well as a great community for families right here in Billings." - Anne Jensen, Avitus Group Recruitment Manager
Avitus Group also offered to supplement Governor Bullock's efforts to help Eastern Montana as it goes through the multiple growing pains involved in an oil field boom. "Businesses are having a difficult time finding help to support their business. It is very difficult to find a payroll specialist or a bookkeeper in Eastern Montana when the employees can make much more money out in the oil fields. Avitus Group has been able to answer this problem for multiple businesses in the Bakken area." - Dianne Parker, Avitus Group Public Relations Manager
