Recognition and Royalty Highlight Year for Pusser's Rum
Charleston, SC (PRWEB) June 06, 2014 -- With it less than half over, it’s clear that 2014 will be a banner year for Pusser’s Rum [pussersrum.com]. The brand has received multiple awards from industry experts and was recently approvingly sampled by HRH Prince William.
Pusser’s began 2014 by winning two coveted Master Medals in London’s Rum Masters Competition. Its Blue Label Admiralty blend medaled in the Rums Aged Less Than Seven Years category, while its limited production 15-year-old rum was a winner in the Rums Aged Over 12 Years classification. The Masters Medals represent best in class among all competitors in a particular category.
Pusser’s then triumphed at London’s World Rum Awards, where the company was awarded a gold medal for Best Over-Proof Rum, a 54.5% ALC version of its Admiralty blend, which is bottled exclusively at its original proof for the European market.
Pusser’s also won accolades in Miami, Florida, which played host to the Rum Renaissance Festival. Here again, the US Blue Label Admiralty blend (42% ALC) took the Gold XP Medal and the Limited Edition 15-Year-Old Rum, now available in the US, earned the Best-in-Class Gold XP Medal in the Aged Premium category.
In acknowledging the awards, Company President and CEO Gary Rogalski commented, “Pusser’s Rum is riding the wave of hand-crafted artisanal spirits that are all natural and authentic. The wooden pot stills located in the Demerara River valley of Guyana have been major contributors to the Royal Navy Admiralty blend since the early 1700s, and continue to add an element of natural flavor unsurpassed by any other rum.”
George Freegard, International Brand Manager for Pusser’s Rum added, “It is always an honor to receive awards, especially when they come from people who are experts in our industry. We are committed to making quality rum and very pleased that these awards recognize our commitment.”
The brand will also be closely involved during 2014 in a number of commemorations of historic events. England’s Prince William recently enjoyed a tot (serving) of Pusser’s Rum in tribute to the completed restoration of a British submarine. The brand will also participate in ceremonies to mark the 100-year anniversary of the First World War.
Pusser’s Rum offers its Admiralty blend in a number of proofs depending upon country preference. The specifications for this rum dates back to the inception of the rum ration provided to British sailors for over 300 years. Forbes Magazine has called the blend “the single malt of rum.”
