Within the first half of 2014, SBC Consultants, Inc. has helped companies earn 13 certifications: one Small Business Association (SBA) 8(a) certification, two Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certifications, four Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) certifications, three Small Business (SB) certifications, one Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) certification, and two Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) Certifications.
Each certification helps a small business gain access to potential business that they may not have otherwise competed for. The limited number of 8(a) Certified firms in the United States (7,236) for example, gives these firms the unique opportunity to bid on Federal Contracts set aside. 8(a) certified firms could now bid and win these contracts without any outside competition. This number is lowered even more as industry specific bids come in to play.
