Strong Growth Continues as Chapel Hill Primary Care Welcomes Dr. Allison Valentine
Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- Chapel Hill’s personalized primary care practice in North Carolina continues its strong growth of the past 18 months with the addition of a new family physician to its ranks. Dr. Allison Valentine has practiced the full spectrum of family medicine since 2010.
“Dr. Valentine has spent the last year working at the community health center in Wilmington, NC treating underserved patients, many of whom had complex, advanced medical and social issues,” says Dr. Remy Coeytaux, founder and owner of Chapel Hill Primary Care. “She has also taught residents at the coastal AHEC of UNC Family Medicine residency in outpatient and hospital settings.“
After Dr. Valentine received her MD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007, she undertook residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University/Fairfax Family Practice in Fairfax, VA. She graduated and achieved board certification in Family Medicine in 2010. She has a strong focus on culturally competent healthcare as a result of her work with the Spanish-speaking population.
Dr. Valentine’s work in the treatment of illnesses is augmented by her enthusiasm for helping to prevent disease through personalized patient education based on diet, exercise and stress management. She also has an interest in gastroenterology as well as an array of psychiatric issues, such as depression, anxiety, ADD and other mood-related disorders. Dr. Valentine takes a holistic approach to individual patients and is interested in the ways in which chronic illness and psychiatric issues interrelate. She has also lectured medical professionals on food politics and nutrition as well as Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, and is proficient in English, Spanish and French.
With her extensive knowledge of integrative holistic medicine, medical anthropology, traditional medicine and supplements, Dr. Valentine will make a significant contribution to the patients of Chapel Hill Primary Care.
