BlueStacks' GamePop Introduces New Game Controller
Tokyo, Japan (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- GamePop, the #1 gaming service for TV, today announced a new way to enjoy games on large screens using a game controller that combines the best of the mobile gaming with traditional console / PC gaming. GamePop also announced full support for gesture-based game play, in partnership with Exvision Inc., of Japan.
The traditional game controller has been the mainstay for hardcore gaming on TV and PC. The advent of casual games on mobile phones and tablets required new game control paradigms based on touch, tilt, and gestures. GamePop was the first to innovate in this space by blending the best of mobile with the traditional 16-button controller to design a new type of game controller for users to enjoy their favorite mobile games on TV and PC just like they would on a mobile device.
“We have strived to extend gaming from the 2-foot experience on mobile devices to the 10-foot experience on larger screens like TVs and AiO PCs,” said Rosen Sharma, President and CEO of GamePop. “Our new controller combined with our cloud-based mapping technology makes GamePop the most scalable and fastest growing gaming platform. The best part is that game developers do not need to make any changes to their mobile games. All games just work automagically.”
“The new GamePop controller was optimized through user feedback and focus studies. Kids and teens start with mobile first, so we wanted to be sure that our game controller fits nicely in the hands of adults as well as kids,” said Apu Kumar, SVP and GM for GamePop. “The new controller includes sensors like accelerometer and gyroscope to detect tilt and orientation, just like a smartphone. There is no learning curve, we’ve seen kids just pick it up and get playing without instruction.”
The addition of gesture input for mobile games was enabled by Exvision’s new high-
speed vision and gesture technology. Users can just waive their hands to slice fruit in Fruit Ninja or move candy in Candy Crush Saga. “We are excited to partner with GamePop,” said Akio Fujii, CEO of Exvision. “Our gesture based technology finally makes it possible to enjoy casual games and educational apps on TVs and AiO PCs without a controller. Your hands are all the controller you need.”
Just today, GamePop also announced their entry into the Japan market at the Tokyo Game Show 2014 in partnership with Sumitomo Corporation and industry leaders for cable TV and mobile services. BlueStacks has nominated Tokyo Electron Device (TED) to be their official representative and technology partner for GamePop in Japan.
