Sevatec Awarded Mission Critical National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Cyber Security Center Contract (NCSC)
Fairfax, Virginia (PRWEB) September 23, 2014 -- Sevatec, Inc. (Sevatec) announced today that it has been awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to manage the complex operational needs of the NOAA Cyber Security Center (NCSC) and the Enterprise Security Oversight Center (ESOC), the key drivers of NOAA’s Information Technology (IT) Security Program.
Under the terms of the contract, Sevatec will serve four NOAA enterprise IT security functional groups within the NCSC – the NOAA Security Operations Center (SOC), the NOAA Computer Incident Response Team (N-CIRT), the System Administration Support (SAS) Team, and the Enterprise Security Services (ESS) Team. Sevatec’s support will also include Commerce-wide, 24x7 near real-time cyber security support for the ESOC, an expansion of the NOAA SOC.
“This contract represents our first engagement supporting the mission critical needs of NOAA,” said Sonny Kakar, Sevatec’s Chief Executive Officer. “With the petabytes of data, the need for supercomputing capabilities, and the complex modeling and simulation related to predictive weather forecasting and ecosystem management, we are honored that NOAA has entrusted Sevatec to enable one of their fundamental mission objectives through advanced cyber security management. As global climate change and the threat of natural disasters remain at the forefront of our nation’s attention, Sevatec is proud to support and protect the integrity and security of NOAA’s IT network and systems.”
NOAA is a scientific agency whose mission is to manage and deliver critical data and information to citizens in the areas of weather and water forecasts services, search and rescue, climate change, environmental images, coastal maps, and ecosystems management. To facilitate this mission, NOAA relies heavily on its secure and resilient global network infrastructure.
The Sevatec team includes trusted subcontractors, HP ArcSight Professional Services (HP ArcSight) and Reston Consulting Group, Inc. (RCG), both proven NOAA partners with extensive SOC and engineering experience in the development and enhancement of agency-wide security monitoring and incident response capabilities.
