Lex Products Corp. Develops Second Generation Spider-style Power Distribution Unit with Rubber Enclosure for Military Applications
(PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- • The warfighter’s first rubber GCFI-protected PDU for years of enduring performance
• Commercial off-the-shelf portable power distribution
• Mates with MIL-DTL-2292 connectors
• Lightweight and compact design for easy transport and storage
The PowerHOUSE™ MT II Series is Lex Products latest generation of portable power distribution units designed to maximize safety and convenience for today’s warfighter. The MT II Series’ lightweight, durable and insulated enclosure delivers power to any system where a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) unit is required to expand portable power distribution.
Bob Luther, CEO of Lex Products Corp., said, “The MT II Series is the next generation of spider-style power distribution units from Lex Products specifically designed for military applications. This addition to the MT Series product line features a pagoda-style enclosure providing a superior level of portability, reliability and convenience that our military customers have come to expect.” He added, “The MT II Series’ heavy duty, shock-resistant, rubber enclosure is built to outlast competitive boxes featuring material such as painted steel, which can be damaged or rendered inoperable during rough use or in harsh environments.”
The MT II Series is a heavy-duty, molded rubber enclosure with various inputs and receptacles with circuit breaker protection. All four model variations feature input and feed thru devices of the same type. Input configurations include MIL-DTL-22992 Class L, IEC 60309 Pin & Sleeve, and NEMA L21-30 Twist-Lock. Three output configurations offer 20 Amp duplex receptacles, and one configuration offers locking receptacles, all of which are open-neutral GFCI protected. Applicable overcurrent protection is provided via hydraulic magnetic branch-rated circuit breakers.
Unprecedented Durability:
The rugged and weather-resistant construction enables the box to withstand rough treatment and harsh environments while delivering years of trouble-free performance. Built to outlast comparable painted steel boxes, the heavy-duty molded rubber enclosure and lid are fully insulated, as well as resistant to shock, impact, and corrosion for enhanced safety. Circuit breakers are located under a heavy-duty rubber, water resistant lid for added protection. Receptacles and inlets are protected from dirt and moisture intrusion by heavy-duty, spring-loaded covers.
Lightweight, Compact and Useful:
The MT II Series is designed to meet the needs of today’s warfighter. All sides of the enclosure serve a specific purpose and present a more compact unit that will not take up valuable space when deployed or stowed. While competing models offer four to six single NEMA 5-20 receptacles, the MT II Series utilizes duplex receptacles, giving the warfighter more locations to plug in equipment. The unique lightweight design, under 35 lbs., also enables the unit to be carried by one person for increased mobility. The rounded edges of MT II Series will not damage surrounding fabrics, cables or packing straps while being deployed, stowed or transported.
Enhanced Safety:
MT II Series Portable Power Distribution boxes utilize either a cULus Listed or NEMA 3R weather-resistant design for safe and reliable use in outdoor environments. Hydraulic magnetic branch-rated circuit breakers provide overcurrent protection for safe operation and will not trip due to ambient temperatures. Weather resistant open-neutral GFCI modules help to prevent unsafe operating conditions and nuisance tripping.
Strong Return on Investment:
The rugged construction and heavy-duty molded rubber enclosure deliver extended longevity for a meaningful, long-term return on investment.
