Triumph Learning Joins Pledge To Protect Student Data Privacy
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 07, 2014 -- Triumph Learning, producer of critically acclaimed K-12 instructional materials and interactive digital tools, signs the student privacy Pledge created by the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). FPF and SIIA introduced the Pledge to safeguard student privacy regarding the collection, maintenance, and use of student personal information.
The student privacy Pledge for K-12 school service providers clearly and concisely states a set of expectations that parents and education officials have for the safeguarding of student data. U.S. Representatives Jared Polis (CO) and Luke Messer (IN) convened with school service providers, educator organizations and other stakeholders to develop the Pledge with FPF and SIIA.
“We are committed to protecting student data privacy and security at Triumph Learning and this pledge helps us achieve and exceed that goal,” said Aoife Dempsey, chief technology officer of Triumph Learning. “The Pledge will better inform service providers and the public on the importance of student privacy.”
The commitments of the Pledge are intended to detail ongoing industry practices that meet and go beyond all federal requirements and encourage service providers to more clearly articulate these practices.
The Pledge will hold Triumph Learning accountable to:
• Not sell student information
• Not behaviorally target advertising
• Use data for authorized education purposes only
• Not change privacy policies without notice and choice
• Enforce strict limits on data retention
• Support parental access to, and correction of errors in, their children’s information
• Provide comprehensive security standards
• Be transparent about collection and use of data.
