SCU - Cutting Edge Online Support for Photographers
Sarasota, Florida (PRWEB) December 04, 2014 -- Coming up on two years since its launch, Skip Cohen University is continuing to set the pace for online education with some unique concepts and support from some of the most passionate educators and companies in photography today.
"When we started SCU, the concept was to build an educational resource for the photographic community with the primary focus on marketing. Today, thanks to help from some outstanding companies and good friends, it's grown substantially with photographers from all over the world getting involved," commented SCU founder, Skip Cohen.
"The Ultimate Story Video Contest"
Working together with Photodex, SCU is searching for the ultimate wedding story. It has to be told through the creative use of photos, videos and audio. Photographers have until December 10 to submit their entries. This is the third contest in the series for 2014 and the winner, in addition to getting some outstanding recognition will receive a Panasonic LUMIX GH3 with 20mm lens, an X-Rite Colormunki, a $500 gift card towards any Profoto lighting equipment and a year of Photodex's ProShow Web Premium.
"Sprouting Photographer's Weekend Wisdom"
Sprouting Photographer and SCU have teamed up to bring photographers a new dimension in podcasts. Weekend Wisdom, hosted by Skip Cohen has a new guest on each episode. What makes the podcast different from so many others available is the dedication to stay focused on just one topic and drill it down with as much helpful information for photographers as possible.
To date, guests have included Don Komarechka on self-publishing, Sandy Puc on defining success, Cindy Harter Sims on starting a business in photography, Doug Box on partnership marketing, Joe McNally on networking, Kristen Jensen on help for photographers from the model's perspective and Tamara Lackey on time management and establishing priorities between business, family and your personal life. Each episode has been loaded with solid advice to help photographers build a stronger business.
Wanting to find an additional way to help photographers just getting started or more seasoned photographers who might be relaunching their business, Cohen launched GoingPro on Facebook. The forum, just kicking off a few months ago, is already up to almost 3000 members. One aspect making it unique are the administrators. The forum boasts some of the finest photographers and educators in professional imaging today, Michele Celentano, Kevin Kubota, Roberto Valenzuela, Bob Coates, Michael Corsentino, Bryan Caporicci, Lori Nordstrom, Jennifer Rozenbaum, Matthew Jordan Smith, Erin Clark Zahradka, Sandy Puc, Jared Platt and Australia's Chris Fawkes.
Questions on marketing, business, technique and education are all fair game in the GoingPro forum and the long range plan for the forum is to utilize the expertise of the administrators as much as possible. In addition, each of the administrators have their own educational outlets/blogs, adding to the support available to the forum's members.
"Mind Your Own Business" at Photofocus
Each month, Photofocus.com, together with SCU, releases a new Google+ Hangout. It's a one hour discussion on various aspects of business with the co-hosts, Rich Harrington and Skip Cohen and always a special guest. Questions are taken while on the air, adding to the helpful content of the webcast. While questions can only be submitted during the live broadcast, the recorded session is available for listeners to download at their convenience later on.
