The University of Vermont Medical Center Names Eileen Whalen, MHA; RN as President and COO
Burlington, Vermont (PRWEB) January 08, 2015 -- The University of Vermont Medical Center announced today that it has appointed Eileen Whalen, M.H.A., R.N., to the position of president and chief operating officer effective immediately. The appointment was made following a national search.
Whalen will report to John Brumsted, M.D., who will retain the position of chief executive officer at The University of Vermont Medical Center as well as his position as president and chief executive officer of The University of Vermont Health Network, a four-hospital system delivering high quality academic medicine to Vermont and northern New York.
“Eileen brings considerable experience both as a nurse and senior health care administrator, and I'm very confident we're placing the oversight of The University of Vermont Medical Center in good hands," said Dr. Brumsted. "Her presence will allow me to increase my focus on leading The University of Vermont Health Network as it grows."
Whalen has more than 35 years of experience in health care including her most recent position as chief executive of Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Prior to taking the position at Harborview, she served as executive vice president at the University of Arizona Medical Center, Tucson, AZ. Whalen has also held numerous leadership positions in trauma, emergency and critical care services.
