Negative Population Growth Offering Over $10,000 in 2015 Scholarships
Alexandria, Virginia (PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- Negative Population Growth (NPG), the nation's premier organization dedicated to educating Americans regarding the damaging effects of overpopulation, is seeking students interested in competing for academic scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. High school seniors and college undergraduates are invited to participate in NPG's 2015 Scholarship Contests, which include both Essay and Photography competitions.
NPG President Don Mann noted: “Each year NPG makes this substantial investment, helping America's next generation of leaders to meet the rising costs of education. By introducing young people to population-related challenges – and inviting them to use their own experience and insight to propose solutions – we encourage them to become activists for our critical mission.”
Mann continued: “America's population stands at over 320 million people – and we are on track to add another 80 million by mid-century. It is absolutely critical that we get young people involved in this fight, for it is their future at stake.”
NPG will offer two concurrent Scholarship Contests between now and April.
To compete in NPG's 2015 Photography Scholarship Contest, students are asked to submit their original photo that shows how population growth is negatively impacting their community. With the photo, contestants must also include a 40-50 word description of why we need U.S. policies that work to slow, halt, and eventually reverse population growth. Photos and descriptions may be used to create future NPG promotions and advertisements. Multiple scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 will be awarded. Entries must be received by NPG no later than 5:00 pm Eastern time on April 11, 2015.
Students who opt for NPG's 2015 Essay Scholarship Contest must submit their original essay of 500-750 words, addressing the question: “Should the U.S. government pursue population policies to protect our quality of life for future generations?” Essay scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,500, and entries must be received by NPG no later than April 23, 2015.
