Entrepreneurial Leaders at Ft. Hood Military Transition Conference to Help Soldiers Launch New Careers and Businesses
Fort Hood, TX (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- On Friday and Saturday of this week (March 27-28), entrepreneurial leaders from across the country will gather for a Military Transition Conference in Fort Hood to help current and former military service members and their families launch new businesses and find rewarding careers. Although data released last week showed unemployment rates for post 9/11 veterans are improving, the rates are unfortunately still 50% higher than the national average. With that in mind, American Dream U and Fort Hood are hosting this free event to ensure that those who have sacrificed to serve have the tools they need to thrive within the workforce.
“Veterans make exceptional business owners,” says Phil Randazzo, Founder of American Dream U, a nonprofit dedicated to helping military get the education and access to resources they need to find their dream job or start a business. “They have the work ethic, discipline and risk tolerance to make a real difference in the American economy. We are honored at American Dream U to be able to work with so many exceptional veterans and current Military members, helping them to unlock their inner potential.”
Encouraging veterans to navigate their career paths also supports the US economy by promoting new business and job growth. Being that they’re 45% more likely than non-veterans to be self-employed, veteran entrepreneurs and their business ventures significantly impact the US economy. In fact, the Small Business Administration reports that veteran business owners are responsible for nearly one out of every ten small businesses in America, employing nearly six million workers and generating over 1.5 trillion dollars in receipts each year.
While the event will have a large focus on providing valuable guidance and advice on starting and growing businesses, it will also have in-depth instruction for veterans looking to reenter the work force. Through discussions spearheaded by renowned business leaders and accomplished veterans, the event will offer attendees opportunities for personal growth and career development, giving them step-by-step guidance on crafting resumes, job-hunting advice and much more.
The event will be held in two different locations on each day:
Friday, March 27th: 0900-1600 at Palmer Theatre, 334 31st St., Fort Hood, TX 76544
Saturday, March 28th: 0900-1500 at Oveta-Culp-Hobby Center, 53210 Lost Moccasin, Fort Hood, TX. 76544
Speakers will include: Aubrey Marcus, CEO of Onnit Labs; Charlie Hoehn, entrepreneur, author and marketer; Ryan Holiday, bestselling author, writer and marketer; Steve Sims, founder of Bluefish; Alex Charfen, co-founder and CEO of Charfen Institute; Honoree Corder, bestselling author; Jefe Greenheart, founder and creator of Greenheart.TV; Andrew Craig, UFC Fighter and Onnit Pro; Toby Nunn, author, speaker, filmmaker and vetrepreneur; Joy Schoffler, vetrepreneur and principal of public relations firm Leverage PR; Joseph Kosper, CEO and co-founder of RideScout; Brad Martineau, founder of SixthDivision; and Jeremy Thiel, co-founder of CrossFit Central.
