South Florida Automation Firm Helps Pinecrest Home Obtain LEED Gold
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 08, 2015 -- Melody Inc., an electronics integration firm, today announced their first LEED Gold Certified project, Domus Alba, a custom-built residence designed by architect and homeowner David Harper.
The Harper residence obtained LEED Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Council, and was also named the Most Outstanding LEED for Homes/Single Family Project of the Year in South Florida.
“By prioritizing sustainability, durability and safety, and allowing the resultant architectural form to be celebrated,” Harper said. “The outcome was a purity of design not compromised.”
Melody integrated a fully automated Control4 system into the residence, allowing for multiple zones of audio, video, lighting and shade control as well as energy monitoring capabilities.
“Working on this project was an incredibly challenging as well as rewarding experience,” Greg Saphier Executive Vice President of Melody said. “We are incredibly honored to be part of such a great team and to do our part to demonstrate that ‘Going Green’ can be practical as well as stylish.”
The sustainable home also incorporates automated shading control and dimmable recessed LED lights for passive energy savings. Solar panels and recycled construction materials help the home boast a net energy consumption of almost zero.
“David’s personal commitment to the benefits of sustainability set the bar for higher sustainable design standards. We worked closely with him to integrate systems throughout the home that focused on minimalist aesthetics as well as superior function,” Saphier said.
Melody provides residential and commercial solutions to homes and business in Miami-Dade County, pioneering smart home and sensory technology across the region.
This South Florida home is featured in the current edition of Florida Design Magazine and is on the cover of The Florida/Caribbean Architect Magazine.
