Western Electrical Contractors Association (WECA) Launches Workforce Development Initiative; Offers Paid Training and Job Placement.
Rancho Cordova, CA (PRWEB) May 04, 2015 -- Western Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. (WECA), a California-based trade association supporting the electrical and low voltage industries, is excited to announce the launch of its Electrical Employment Fast Track program. The program is a win-win solution for individuals looking to get into the electrical and low voltage trades, and contractors looking for qualified entry-level employees.
WECA’s member contractors and the industry at large have a growing need for qualified employees, entry-level and otherwise. To help meet this need, the association is committed to developing a skilled workforce for the trade, now and into the future. WECA's new Electrical Employment Fast Track offers two weeks of paid training and subsequent job placement opportunities to qualified entry-level applicants.
Applicants accepted to the program attend their paid training in entry-level, hands-on skills suitable for the electrical and low voltage fields at WECA’s Northern California Training Facility in Rancho Cordova. The program is intended for individuals new to the industry, and basic eligibility criteria includes: High school graduate, GED, or Equivalency; at least 18 years of age; valid Driver's License and clean driving record; less than 6 months electrical or low voltage experience; less than 12 months experience in other skilled trades. Veterans, recent high school graduates, career changers, and other eligible individuals are all encouraged to apply. WECA is actively taking applications to fill several upcoming course instances through Spring and Summer 2015.
Individuals who successfully complete the program are prepared to work on a jobsite as a registered Electrician Trainee. C-10 and C-7 contractors can reserve a recent Fast Track grad for a 4 month temporary placement. If the new employee is a good fit, a contractor can elect to make a permanent hire.
