Geo-Social Media App “Hereshot” 1st to Break Free from Linear News Feeds on iOS 8
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 04, 2015 -- Hereshot, a geo-social media app that boasts a nonlinear approach to sharing, is now available on the App Store for all iOS 8 devices. Hereshot uses your location to share photos, links and text at any place in the world at the date and time they happened. User submitted posts are explorable by selecting an area of Hereshot’s map, whether that’s a city block or an entire continent, then selecting a time range from one minute ago to two-thousand years ago. Or any range of time in between.
Founded by developer and entrepreneur Heath Michaels, Hereshot is designed to create a visual timeline of the things users wish to share as they happen and when.
“Most social apps try to squeeze our lives into linear feeds. You take a photo or post something you want to say, and it ends up piled atop everything else and tomorrow they’re pushed so far down the feed they’re nearly impossible to find again. What I’m most proud of with Hereshot is how it breaks the linear news feed wide open,” said Michaels, Founder of Hereshot. “With Hereshot it’s about targeting a space and time and exploring what you and others were doing, reading or thinking at that spot at that time. It’s the geographic-time focused sharing of user-generated content.”
Users interact with others pseudo-anonymously both locally and around the world, revealing only their first real name and an optional unique screen name of their choosing. Currently, the users have the option of sharing photos with optional title and description, Twitter-length blurbs or full-length blogs, and direct links to outside websites. We encourage participation from the original poster in monitoring comments left on self posts, and give controls to delete undesirable comments or block users altogether. While there’s no mandatory geo-fencing, Hereshot allows users to create their own geographical area of interest, no matter how big or small, and does not require prior friendships to engage in conversations or private messaging. The app, currently available on all iOS 8 devices for free, employs user-generated curation as users vote on every post, pushing the lower quality posts down and bringing the higher quality ones up.
