Tempo Semiconductor Introduces New Ultra-Low Power Audio CODEC for Portable Audio Subsystem Including Tablets, Gaming, Other Consumer and Industrial Applications
Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 10, 2015 -- Tempo Semiconductor Inc., (TSI), which delivers essential ultra-low power, high fidelity audio mixed-signal semiconductor solutions to the consumer, PC and industrial market, today announced a new low power audio subsystem for portable applications. This new device – the TSCS422XX - minimizes board space and reduces system cost through integration.
The TSCS422XX is a 24 bit audio CODEC that supports digital or analog MEMS microphones and offers a DSP filter engine that enriches the sound presence through dynamic processing, 12-band Equalizer (EQ), speaker protection, and louder volume when using small speakers. Additionally it incorporates immersive 3D surround, Psychoacoustic Bass, Treble Enhancements and a professional style 3-Band DRC for life-like listening experience in all listening modes.
The combination of high efficiency 3Watt all digital DDX™ class D driver, capless DirectConnect™ headphone and the extensive digital signal processing including 12-band equalizer, 3band compressor and Tempo unique Psychoacoustic Bass and Treble processing intelligently enhances sound pressure level (SPL) for loudness at minimal power without damage to small form factor speakers. With exceptionally low standby power of 350uW, the TSCS42xxx device is ideally suited for wearables, internet of things (IoT) and applications where battery life is critical
“The integration of Tempo's All-Digital High Efficiency (DDX™) technology is a perfect example of how TSI brings the analog and digital worlds together to create value,” said Sam Kasgorgis, VP of worldwide sales at TSI. “The integrated low-power, high-efficiency, high-fidelity audio combined with our voice assist software solve several challenges at once, making the end-product better, smaller, more cost effective and accelerates Time-to-Market. The TSCS422XX extends TSI’s computing audio portfolio, well-positioning TSI to support the transition from tablets to notebooks and other portable electronic products.”
The All-Digital High Efficiency DDX™ technology offers higher efficiency, consuming less power than traditional binary class-D solutions and works seamlessly with our Windows (7, 8, 10), Linux, Android software and driver suite. This results in a significant improvement in battery life – a critical demand of next generation portable consumer electronics.
All of these advantageous features are further complemented by a programmable DSP filter engine that enriches the sound presence through dynamics processing, pro-style multiband compressor, 12-band equalization, speaker protection, and louder SPL when using small speakers. TSI also offers complete driver support and tuning tools for faster time-to-market with Windows, Linux and Android systems, and flexibility in speaker selection and industrial design.
