Geneva Woods Acquires Portico's Long Term Care Pharmacy Business
Anchorage, Alaska (PRWEB) June 25, 2015 -- Geneva Woods Pharmacy, Inc. (GWP) (http://www.genevawoods.com), a leading provider of integrated Long Term Care (LTC) and home pharmacy services in under-served rural markets, has announced the acquisition of the LTC pharmacy assets of Meridian, Idaho-based Portico pharmacy.
With this acquisition, GWP expands its operations and client-care model to Boise and the rest of Treasure Valley. GWP’s integrated pharmacy services model (Homecare pharmacy, LTC, Compounding, Specialty and DME), now serves thousands of patients across Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Dan Afrasiabi, President of GWP commented: “Portico represented the perfect partner to help us get a foothold in Idaho. I am proud to see the Portico LTC team join our rapidly-growing GWP team. Over the past few years, they have built a strong reputation for service and care, and serve some of Idaho’s best-known LTC facilities. We look forward to expanding our reach in the Treasure Valley, by creating the strong “one-stop shop” solution that GWP has come to be known for in the last 30 years.”
Charles Ashton, President of Portico Pharmacy added: “When we began talking to GWP, it became clear to us that their approach to providing an integrated solution in rural markets, combined with a strong focus on compliance and client-care, is going to be the way of the future in the Long Term Care industry. We are proud to work with GWP to continue the highest level of service and care for patients throughout Idaho.”
With this acquisition, GWP will extend its Transitional Pharmacy model of care to residents of Idaho. “Our ultimate goal is to deliver better outcomes and lower healthcare costs for the elderly population in rural markets, while keeping people healthier, longer,” added Afrasiabi.
