Trident University International Introduces New Military Assistance Center
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- Trident University International (Trident) is proud to announce the new Trident Military Assistance Center (TMAC), which launched in June 2015. This center is designed to improve the student experience of Trident’s active duty, veteran, dependents and National Guard communities, which currently make up 79% of the University’s currently enrolled population.
Trident University, with over 22,000 Military alumni, recognized that there was a need within the University to provide a centralized resource to support military members throughout the world. By engaging these populations through mentorship and professional development, Trident can help students to prepare themselves for their careers in both the military and civilian worlds.
Services offered include career development skills, mentor/protégé programs, tutoring services, health and welfare information access, and financial management resources. Students also have the opportunity to join Trident’s chapter of the Student Veterans of America.
“The Trident Military Assistance Center offers unparalleled access to a wealth of resources and a network of dedicated and experienced individuals. By centralizing these services, we can now better support the needs of Trident’s dedicated military community,” Steven Hall, Senior Director of Military and Veterans Relations.
Steven Hall, a 25-year Air Force veteran now serving as Senior Director of Military and Veteran Relations at Trident, led the development of the TMAC in collaboration with Esmeralda Silva, Vice President of Outreach and Strategic Alliances and Philip F. Johndrow, a 33-year Army veteran now serving as National Director of Strategic Military and Veterans Alliances. Other key members of the Trident team included Board of Trustees members SEAC (R) William “Joe” Gainey, Gen. (Ret.) William Looney, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Thomas F. Metz, Gary Woods, and Stan Phillips, as well as Senior Vice President Eric Rajasalu and President & CEO Travis Allen, who provided guidance throughout the development of the TMAC.
The center is also supported by members of Trident’s finance, financial aid, admissions, and outreach teams who will actively provide ongoing resources dedicated to the Military members and their families.
The support center’s name came via suggestions from Trident’s faculty and staff. An online survey was conducted to obtain student feedback on a final list of names, with 485 students weighing in on the fit, appeal, and uniqueness of the naming options. Dr. Thomas Hunter, a faculty member in the College of Health Sciences, submitted the winning name.
The Center is expected to service over 2,000 students and alumni in its first year, providing a place for those individuals to find information, have questions answered, and find skill development resources, and career support.
