Academy of Art University’s New Architectural Design Program
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 02, 2015 -- We are proud to announce the launch of our new Architectural Design Bachelor of Arts Degree program from the School of Architecture.
Led by Executive Director Mimi Sullivan, AIA, the Architectural Design program will roll out with the Fall 2015 semester on September 3. Paired with the existing 162-unit Bachelor of Architecture program expected to be accredited by 2016, the new BA degree is comprised of 132 units and offers students an alternate path toward their profession. The new BA program will prepare students for entry level positions in the architecture and design fields as they work toward developing strong student portfolios. The program will also ensure that students seeking further higher education may proceed into a professional degree, Master of Architecture, or other graduate programs in related fields.
Students of the Academy of Art University Architectural Design program will learn from a curriculum that is grounded in environmental design and provides a strong undergraduate education while allowing them to develop skills and knowledge in architectural design, history and theory, fundamentals of sustainability, materials, building construction and structures, and advanced design representation tools.
The program will also offer students a broader choice of courses in their fourth year, giving them the opportunity to emphasize additional skills or interests before committing themselves to a path of licensure. Students will graduate from the program having developed a number of proficiencies valued within and beyond the architectural profession – such as digital skills, fabrication skills, graphic and process-driven visual communication skills, and articulate presentation skills – and will be uniquely prepared to apply their creativity in the architectural design industry.
