National American University Raises Funds to Support Wounded Veterans Through The Independence Fund
Rapid City, South Dakota (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- National American University (NAU) is saluting America's wounded heroes by raising funds for an all-terrain wheelchair. All NAU locations will participate in fundraising activities from September 15-November 11 (Veteran’s Day) to raise money for the purchase of a track chair for a wounded veteran through the Independence Fund.
The Independence Fund helps provide all terrain wheelchairs to wounded veterans, giving them more independence to experience some of their favorite things in life again. The track chair is a wheel chair designed to go over several types of terrain, allowing a wounded veteran to return to some of their favorite past times including hunting, fishing, or even being in the backyard with their children. The funds will help benefit one brave soldier with the purchase of a track chair.
“National American University prides itself on being a military friendly university. What better way to give back than getting a wounded veteran back into their surroundings,” said project coordinator and NAU Campus Director, Kristin Marthaler. “Being a military friendly school is so much more than providing a great education for veterans and active military. It's about being there for them. That is what NAU is about, going above and beyond. That is the core of who we are.”
