Gables Day volunteers make a difference at Path Academy
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 10, 2015 -- Today is Gables Day in Atlanta, a day of service for more than 170 associates of Gables Residential who spent the day volunteering at Path Academy, a charter school in DeKalb County that creates a safe and nurturing learning environment in which refugee, immigrant and local children can develop the knowledge, skills and character needed to succeed regardless of socio-economic and language barriers.
Today at Path Academy, located on property at Oglethorpe University in Northeast Atlanta, Gables volunteers completed a number of projects on school grounds to enhance and improve the campus. The work included repairing sidewalks, building benches for the outdoor classroom, grading and sodding the soccer field, installing new swings on the playground, and building and staining new picnic tables. Volunteers also did extensive landscaping work, including planting butterfly bushes, removing overgrowth and re-mulching the playground.
"We extend heartfelt thanks to Gables and the Gables Day volunteers,” said Bruce Cox of Path Academy. “We have a lovely campus on the grounds of Oglethorpe University, but very limited resources for maintaining it. Today's effort has been a wonderful opportunity for us to do many of the things that we have wanted to do, but did not have the money, time or personnel to accomplish."
