SPD Foundation Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement
Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 18, 2015 -- Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on December 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
“For the SPD Foundation, this is an ideal chance to reach out to people around the world and give them an opportunity to support our work and highlight awareness of Sensory Processing Disorder. It is relatively unknown and yet nearly one in 20 people in the general population may be affected by SPD, including most individuals with autism spectrum disorder,” said Sheryl Benjamin, executive director of the SPD Foundation.
The SPD Foundation (SPDF) is a world leader in research, education, and awareness of Sensory Processing Disorder, a neurological condition that disrupts the daily lives of many children and adults. SPDF has been providing hope and help to individuals and families living with SPD. Our Vision: a future in which every child with SPD is identified and treated by age 6.
Those who are interested in joining SPD Foundation on #GivingTuesday can visit https://www.givedirect.org/give/givefrm.asp?cid=12506. Your donation on #GivingTuesday will provide funding for:
• Research to advance therapies used with children and adults with SPD. We are always working to find new techniques and prove their effectiveness.
• Education programs to train and certify therapists worldwide. We mentor and train therapists to use these advanced therapies in their practice. A future goal of the Foundation is to develop a college level certification program for SPD therapies.
• Awareness programs for educators and pediatricians to help identify children with SPD and get them help as early as possible.
You can help families find answers more quickly and discover the results they desperately need.
