FindBiometrics Editor To Judge 2016 Glomo Awards as FinTech and Mobility Soar in Popularity
(PRWEB) December 17, 2015 -- FindBiometrics has announced that the numbers are in from its 13th annual Biometrics Industry Year in Review survey. With nearly 160 professionals having taken part, the 2015 edition of the longest running annual review in the global identity management industry shows that finance and mobility are by far the hottest areas in biometric applications. Throughout December and January, the FindBiometrics editorial team will be releasing these results and more with its renowned insightful commentary.
With mobility and finance driving interest in biometrics technology, FindBiometrics has taken an initiative in bridging the gap between the strong authentication community and the vertical industries that most need it. In 2015, through a partnership with Money20/20, FindBiometrics President Peter O’Neill was credited with bringing biometrics to the most prestigious event in FinTech, stoking interest among some of the biggest names in financial services.
Now, with mobility more important than ever in the global identity management industry, FindBiometrics is proud to announce that Managing Editor Peter B. Counter has been selected as a judge for the 2016 GSMA Glomo Awards. Judging Category 1g – The Mobile Connect Award for Authentication & Identity, Counter will be lending his expertise in mobile digital identity management to the mobile industry’s longest running award platform.
“FindBiometrics and our sister site, Mobile ID World, were reporting from Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last year because we saw a strong demand for our expert eye on digital identity,” says Peter O’Neill. “For years, we have prided ourselves on being ahead of the curve in identifying areas where biometrics will see great adoption. Now, with our managing editor’s involvement in the Glomo Awards, it is clear that this sentiment is shared by parallel industries—in this case, the mobile network operator vertical.”
O’Neill, with partner Maxine Most, Principal Analyst of Acuity Market Intelligence, predicted the mobile biometric revolution before Apple had even purchased AuthenTech—a move that would first signal the mainstreaming of consumer biometrics and ultimately result in the prolific Touch ID sensor on all new iPhones. Today, biometrics are common features on mobile devices, and the latest research from Acuity predicts that, in 2020, the technology will be on virtually all of the world’s 3 billion smartphones.
“I am honored to be included in the expert judging panel alongside such reputable figures in mobile identity and authentication at the GSMA Glomo Awards,” says Counter. “Mobile identity management covers some of the most dynamic and crucial technology for the future of mobility. Beyond finance, the best of the mobile identity innovations of today will no doubt change the way we see ourselves and interact with one another in the near future, both online and face to face.”
