Inedo Announces the Release of Otter, a New Tool for Infrastructure Automation
Berea, OH (PRWEB) January 10, 2016 -- Early this month, Inedo officially unveiled their latest product, Otter. Built specifically to confront today’s infrastructure challenges, the tool helps both enterprise and small teams realize true infrastructure automation through the concept of Infrastructure as Code.
Otter focuses on two key areas:
• Configuration Automation: Otter allows users to model the configuration of servers, roles, and environments; monitor for drift, schedule changes, and ensure consistency across servers
• Orchestration Automation: Otter can spin up cloud servers, build containers, deploy packages, patch servers, or any other multi-server/service automation
Otter accomplishes these tasks through a visual and strikingly intuitive interface; a web-based, drag-and-drop editor that creates an easily understandable overview of a corporation's infrastructure. This is a feature that Inedo CEO, Alex Papadimoulis, regards as a necessary component.
“From the start, we knew that a big part of Otter was being able to get your whole team involved. The tool needed to meaningfully, but quickly communicate these systems, which are often complex and changing,” Alex reports.
“Otter lets users rapidly digest their available options and then develop automation plans that are as simple or as complex as they need to be.”
Otter also supports command-line and advanced scripting features that allow specialized power users to introduce more flexibility to their plans.
While specifically designed with Windows configuration management in mind, Otter allows for server configuration and monitoring across 1000's of servers whether bare metal or virtual.
Otter free trial is available, and the Getting Started with Otter tutorial puts users on the fast track to getting the most out of Otter.
