Weaver Fab & Finishing Receives Women's Business Enterprise Certification
Akron, Ohio (PRWEB) February 24, 2016 -- Weaver Fab & Finishing (Weaver), serving the precision metal fabrication needs of the aerospace, medical, food equipment, heating and cooling, packaging equipment and robotics industries for more than 70 years, today announced it received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). Given by the Ohio River Valley Women’s Business Council, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Weaver joins an elite group of qualified WBE manufacturing companies and one of 930 WBE organizations in the council’s region of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
By including women-owned businesses among their vendors, organizations demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier/vendor diversity programs. “This certification fulfills a key need for many of our customers,” said Marian Lauer, co-owner, Weaver Fab & Finishing.
Weaver customer Kim Daugherty, supply chain manager for Energy Technologies Inc., a provider of reliable power back and generation equipment, recognizes the immediate benefit of this certification, specifically as it pertains to the company’s government contracts. “Weaver's WBE business status expands our federal contracting opportunities, which will allow us to obtain additional business by meeting vendor requirements for Department of Defense contracts,” Daugherty said.
WBENC’s national standard of certification implemented by the Ohio River Valley Women’s Business Council is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.
“The Greater Akron Chamber congratulates our friends at Weaver on obtaining their WBE certification,” said Richard Rebadow, executive vice president, Greater Akron Chamber. “We are very pleased that our organization, along with Congressman Tim Ryan’s office, could be of assistance throughout this process and we truly believe the certification will lead to some great opportunities in growing their operations within the Greater Akron Region.”
Lauer, along with her co-owner and husband Jim Lauer, expanded the company’s operations in 2015. This new 46,000 square foot facility in Akron, Ohio enables the company to design and integrate technologies that meet and grow current capabilities and increase capacity.
