Smart Clinic Wins 2015 Arizona Innovation Challenge
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) March 31, 2016 -- Smart Clinic, one of the most promising new mHealth companies, has been selected by an expert panel of judges as a winner in the Fall 2015 round of the Arizona Innovation Challenge. The Arizona Innovation Challenge, powered by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), is one of the largest business plan competitions in the country. The ACA provides $3 million in Arizona Innovation Challenge grants annually – $1.5 million in the spring and $1.5 million in the fall – to help the most qualified, innovative startups and early-stage companies commercialize their technologies and scale their businesses.
“The Arizona Innovation Challenge process is an incredible learning experience,” said Robert Backie, Smart Clinic CEO. “All participants receive extensive feedback on their business plans and the opportunity to have a 30 minute in-person review, which in my opinion is invaluable. Winning this grant will advance Smart Clinic’s ability to improve the experience of patients, and we’re honored to have been selected.”
Arizona Innovation Challenge grant money is provided only as each company reaches specific business milestones during a 12-month period. As part of those business milestones, Smart Clinic has expanded its infrastructure to include a Head of Marketing and is in the process of hiring an Integration Manager. Additional personnel and product expansions are planned throughout the remainder of 2016.
Smart Clinic’s effectiveness continues to be validated by medical care providers, with a clinically-proven 35% increase in patient preparation. This has led to endorsements from leading gastroenterology doctors and organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). The ACG was highly impressed with Smart Clinic’s ability to improve both patient preparation and communication between the patient and medical care provider. As a result, the ACG has selected Smart Clinic as their official patient engagement application and promoted it to their more than 13,000 members nationwide.
