Township Residents Announce $29 Million in Rx Savings
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 01, 2016 -- The Coast2CoastRx program in association with Illinois Townships has saved Illinois residents $29,846,651.70 on their prescriptions with the Coast2Coast Rx Card. The Coast2CoastRx program has been implemented in 50 Illinois Townships so far.
Niles Township was the first township to adopt the savings program. Niles Township Supervisor Marilyn D. Glazer said, “I am very excited about the overwhelming success of our partnership with the Coast2Coast Rx program. It has turned out to be more helpful than we could ever have anticipated, especially for our senior citizens. I am proud and pleased that Niles Township was the first township in Illinois to offer the program.” Niles Township has saved residents $4,113,663.71 with the Coast2Coast Rx program since October 2010.
Orland Township leads the way with savings of $4,770,591.07 since the program was launched in August of 2012. Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady said, “With the current state of the economy turning necessary health-related purchases into stressful burdens for individuals, Orland Township responded by offering the Coast2Coast Rx Discount Program to its residents at no additional cost to taxpayers.” O’Grady added, “ We are happy to say that Coast2Coast has helped our residents save money in these stressful financial times, and Orland Township strongly encourages all eligible residents to take part in this money saving program.”
The Coast2Coast Rx card allows all Illinois residents, regardless of income, age, or health status to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications. The program has saved cardholders throughout the nation an average of 60 percent in 2016 on the cost of prescription drugs. The Rx card is distributed free of charge and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Illinois and includes over 60,000 drugs in its formulary.
