Allied Telesis Deploys Software-Defined Networking Wireless/Wired Pure OpenFlow Solution for the Open Networking Foundation
Bothell, WA (PRWEB) August 09, 2016 -- Allied Telesis, a leading provider of hardware and software products that allows customers to build secure, feature-rich and scalable data exchange solutions, today announced it has collaborated with the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) head office to deploy a fully software-defined networking (SDN) wireless/wired network solution.
The ONF is a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth and adoption of SDN. The ONF selected industry leader, Allied Telesis, to provide its first fully SDN network solution.
“The entire deployment took less than one hour to unpack, rack the equipment and make it available for use,” commented Dan Pitt, ONF executive director. Deploying the entire wireless/wired pure OpenFlow network was simple and extremely fast, utilizing a system that can scale up to 2,000 users. The ONF uses the open-source Faucet SDN controller that uses the OpenFlow protocol to control the switch.
The new SDN solution consists of an Allied Telesis x930 Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switch and an 802.11.ac wireless access point. This switch series provides resiliency, reliability and high performance, making it ideal for network core and distribution solutions. The ONF also uses Allied Telesis x510 advanced stackable Gigabit switches that provide a similar suite of features in a compact and reliable package.
“Allied Telesis is actively promoting open SDN ecosystems that benefit our end customer, as they transform their legacy static infrastructure to an agile programmable network. As a major SDN Openflow switch vendor, we continue to create new compelling business solutions that take advantage of the open SDN ecosystem,” said Philip Yim, SVP Global Programs for Allied Telesis. “We are, of course, excited to a part of this ONF initiative.”
