American College of Lifestyle Medicine Welcomes Lighter as Founding Member of the ACLM Corporate Roundtable
Naples, FL (PRWEB) October 18, 2016 -- The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), the nation’s medical professional society for physicians, allied health professionals and healthcare executives dedicated to a lifestyle medicine-first approach to healthcare, today announced Lighter as the newest Founding Member of the Lifestyle Medicine Corporate Roundtable (CRT).
In the face of an epidemic of chronic, largely preventable disease, ACLM established the Lifestyle Medicine Corporate Roundtable, bringing together foresighted entrepreneurial, industry, medical and academic thought leaders for strategic collaboration focused on advancing the lifestyle medicine movement. The end goal: sustainable health and sustainable healthcare.
"Too often the plant-predominant optimal dietary lifestyle recommendation is perceived to fly in the face of conventional wisdom, so we, as physicians, need educational and practical resources we can recommend to our patients, and Lighter is one that's breaking new ground and filling a vital need in the marketplace," explained Dr. David Katz, president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. "Lighter helps guide users in their transition from the Standard American Diet to a health-promoting plant-centric way of living, through its innovative and customized meal planning software. I'm delighted to welcome them as a Founding Member of our Corporate Roundtable."
Regarding the announcement today, Lighter CEO Alexis Fox said, "Seven out of ten deaths in the United States are caused by largely preventable chronic disease. Making the right food choices the easy food choices is central to bringing about change, and we are absolutely honored to be partnering with ACLM to help save lives."
ACLM’s Corporate Roundtable is comprised of lifestyle medicine thought leaders representing healthcare delivery system stakeholders, as well as providers of products and services that are committed to the cause of lifestyle medicine. The roundtable provides a platform for engagement with ACLM leadership and partners in charting strategy around key lifestyle medicine initiatives, including a campaign to call out the urgent need for reimbursement of intensive therapeutic lifestyle medicine interventions, as well as a campaign to heighten awareness about lifestyle medicine being a vital solution in addressing global health and healthcare sustainability.
