Inaugural BSides NoVA (Northern Virginia) Cybersecurity Conference Announced for February 2017
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) September 07, 2016 -- Cybersecurity takes center stage at the inaugural BSides NoVA Conference. The community-driven event will be hosted at Center for Innovative Technology in Herndon, Virginia on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 and will be attended by nearly 400 students and industry professionals. Speakers will cover topics ranging from the state of the cybersecurity industry to bleeding edge research on vulnerabilities, exploits, protection, and response. The featured keynote speakers will be announced in October.
In addition to the talks, multiple activities will be available to conference attendees such as a Capture-the-Flag event which challenges attendees to defeat security controls, and a series of Penetration Testing Workshops which teach the fundamentals of hacking. The conference will conclude with an Entrepreneur Lightning Talk Event which aims to promote innovation in the local security community through individual mentorship.
“The cybersecurity community in the Northern Virginia area is one the strongest in the nation. It’s the right time we have a BSides NoVA event to help connect local students, Government & Industry professionals and enthusiasts,” said Patrick Thompson, Co-Founder BSides NoVA.
BSides NoVA is backed by prominent technology and cybersecurity organizations such as the MACH37 Cyber Accelerator and the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu.
“Cybersecurity has grown into a global problem and there are many vexing issues that require solutions. We believe that some of the most interesting innovations in the security industry continue to originate from independent security researchers. The BSides Conferences foster collaboration among members of that community in cities all over the world. We are honored to be a part of the first annual BSides NoVA event and look forward to helping foster the next generation of cybersecurity innovation,” said Rick Gordon, MACH37 Managing Partner.
Two rounds of tickets will be made available at noon EST, October 15th, 2016 and November 15th, 2016. For full details, visit http://www.BSidesNoVA.org/registration.
