Scottish Fun at the 31st Annual Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games
Dallas - Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) May 05, 2017 -- Many people discover they’re a wee bit Scottish at the TEXAS SCOTTISH FESTIVAL & HIGHLAND GAMES(TXSF), scheduled for May 5-6-7, 2017 in Arlington, Texas. Celebrating its 31st year the festival is internationally renowned for its outstanding entertainment scheduled continuously on three stages including the largest pub tent in North America. The Festival again hosts professional and amateur athletic competitions, bagpipe bands, world champion highland dancers, Scottish breed dog show, Scottish clan tents & genealogy, and much more. An exciting array of festival & ethnic food, merchandise, souvenirs, and beverages from Scotland and Great Britain will be available for purchase. The Festival and Games are open to the general public and is an event for the entire family, with most activities scheduled continuously throughout the day.
This year the TEXAS SCOTTISH FESTIVAL & HIGHLAND GAMES(TXSF) are part of the Coast-To-Coast CLARET JUG TOUR, hosted by The Golf Channel.(http://www.texasscots.com/claretjug) Texas Scottish Festival Guests will have the opportunity to see the REAL Claret Jug, Engrave Initials on keepsake ball marker and photo ops in anticipation of The 146th Open at Royal Birkdale. The Claret Jug will be marched in on Saturday, May 6th at 11am.
Music lovers will enjoy three live stages with over 30 bands that run all weekend. Friday night lineup includes, North Texas Caledonian Pipes & Drums, Fort Worth Scottish Pipes & Drums, Rathmore, Selkie Girls, Brian McNeill, Tullamore, & Ed Miller. This years performing, Texas Scots Talent Winners are Anton & The Colts from Glasgow, Scotland and our very own, Reel Treble from North Texas.
The 2017 TXSF Art was created by Scottish Designer, Gillian Kyle. (http://www.gilliankyle.com) Approached by the festival Marketing Committee via email she immediately replied, "I'd love to be involved!" She has volunteered her time to support her fellow Scots abroad and her design is a shared cultural treat for festival goers. "Every year we try to do something fun with the shirts. It is something to look forward to and sets the tone for the festival. We were so happy that, Gillian took the time to support our organization" said Marketing Committee Chair, Wendy Walker Davis.
This three day festival runs from Friday, May 5th until Sunday, May 7th, 2017. "Rain or Shine" It is currently held within UT Arlington's, Maverick Stadium, 1307 West Mitchell, Arlington, TX 76013.
